    A brilliantly executed still life composition painted in a modernist manner in oil onto board.

    Expressive brushstrokes make up this striking composition of a group of objects including a teapot, a lemon, a cup and a knife that are placed atop a blue table. Upon first glance, are eyes are immediately drawn to the lemon that punctuates the centre of the painting, whose vivid yellow contrasts starkly against the darker and moodier shades of grey and blue in the painting. The objects have been defined by dark bold outlines, drawing our attention to their individual form and shape.

    This oil on board is housed in a very unique distressed grey frame with a decorative surface, pairing wonderfully with the painting. The frame has some wear, but this is in keeping with the distressed style. The painting is in excellent vintage condition.

    The restful still life composition depicts a vase of five pink tulips in bloom, and it would make a beautiful addition to an interior space. The tulips are positioned against a blue backdrop, and a reflection of their shadow is cast against the background surrounding it.

    The painting features a contrast in rich and soothing complementary colours, as well as short and distinct expressive brushstrokes that fill the surface and add a lightly textured quality. The artist displays his painterly skills – wonderfully capturing the effects of light and shadow.

    This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wooden frame. There is a small area of paint loss to the left side of the painting, as shown in the close ups. Otherwise, both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
