    A truly striking and vibrant scene of a pair of roosters set within an expressive landscape dotted with trees and other animals. This painting has an exceptional three dimensional quality to it, with very thickly applied brightly coloured oils on the canvas.     A brilliantly executed semi-abstract mid century modernist oil composition, painted in 1959 by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum and Jönköping Museum.

    In this composition we can see two figures, each sitting on a donkey. There is an inscription on the reverse which locates the scene to Altea, in Spain. Morsing has abstracted the figures and animals, using a restrained palette of black, green, yellow and white, and omitting all realistic detail. Instead, multi-directional brushstrokes come together carefully and in  a very considered manner to create the forms we see.

    This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame with red undertones. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has losses and marks to its edges as shown.

    A lively and energetic winter landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1981 by Swedish artist Uno Vallman (1913-2004) whose works are included in the Swedish National Museum, the Swedish Modern Museum, and also in the collections of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and the Tessin Institute in Paris.

    Containing elements of fauvism,  this striking painting emphasises bold colours and vivid textured brushstrokes as it presents a figure sleighing through a winter landscape forest.

    Rich and lively colours have been applied to the canvas, and through the use of energetic brushstrokes, the painting is beautifully textured with areas of impasto – where the paint has been applied thickly such that it stands proud from the surface.

    This oil on canvas is housed in a very unique and decorative wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the white border on the frame has some paint losses as shown.
