A delightful and very cleverly painted composition in oil, painted onto canvas.

Simple but very effective in its composition, we see an interior scene of a cat curled up on a striped couch. The colours of the couch and background are pastel and gentle, thus focussing our attention on the red pillow and black and white cat. The artist has applied the paint in broad and gestural strokes, and in certain areas we see impasto where the paint has been applied thickly and stands proud from the surface. The cat has been very cleverly painted in a few simple strokes of thick creamy paint.

For anyone who owns (or has owned) a cat, this painting would be such a lovely and poignant addition to an interior.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. The painting has scattered craquelure as shown in the close ups but the paint layer is stable overall.
