A very striking mid-century modernist still life composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

This well-executed and detailed work of art presents an interior setting where a pitcher, a plate of fruit, and a knife lay on a white-clothed table that has been placed beside a window.

The artist has used a rich and uplifting colour palette, and the skilful application of contrasting shades helps to create a sense of space as well as make the three-dimensionality of the objects more pronounced.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary deep-profile gilt frame. The painting has a small spot of paint loss on the green jug (as shown), otherwise it is in very good vintage condition and the paint layer is very stable overall. The frame has some losses to the inner edges and outer corners as shown, but these have been painted in so they are not immediately obvious unless inspected closely.
