A striking and expressive mid-century figurative composition, executed in oil onto board.

Painted in an abstract manner, we can discern what appears to be 4 standing figures and a baby in the center of the composition. All realistic details have been omitted, drawing our attention instead to painterly elements such as brushstroke, colour, and texture.

The artist has worked boldly in his medium of oil, confidently executing gestural and expressive brushstrokes, and has used the impasto technique to create a wonderful textural quality. Each colour has also been thoughtfully selected and layered to give rise to this beautiful abstract composition.

This oil on board is housed in a very decorative and attractive light wooden frame, with outer decorative moulding and an inner linen and gilt border. There is some very minor ageing to the frame but it is stable, and overall both the frame and panting are in very good condition.
