A large and striking mid century modernist figurative composition in oil, painted onto canvas.
Depicted in this composition is a family of four semi-abstract figures. Realistic details have been intentionally left out, as the artist has chosen instead to focus on form, colours and pattern. Intricate layers of vivid colour have been applied in broad and gestural brushstrokes, created a wonderfully textured surface, with the multidirectional strokes creating a striking patterning within the picture and showing off areas of impasto. As we study the picture, the different layers of colour slowly reveal themselves, adding a great sense of depth to the painting.
This vivid oil on canvas is housed in a complementary frame with linen detail. Both the painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
