A striking and very confidently executed mid century modernist figurative composition in oil, painted onto canvas.

Executed in a semi-abstract manner, we can discern  five figures set standing in front of tall buildings in this composition. Each form has been defined by bold black outlines, and all realistic details have been intentionally left out, focusing our attention instead on colour, form and texture.

The artist has worked boldly in his medium of oil, confidently executing expressive brushstrokes, and has used the impasto technique to create a wonderful textural quality. Each colour has also been thoughtfully selected and layered to give rise to this beautiful composition.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wooden frame painted white. There is a very small area of paint loss to the right side of the artwork, but both painting and frame are overall in very good vintage condition.
