A fascinating mid century modernist still life composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

Working with a restrained monochrome palette and with painterly expressive brushstrokes, the composition depicts 4 objects including a pitcher and a statue spread across a white piece of paper, and laid on a grey table surface. Each of the objects have been defined by thin bold outlines.

Leaning towards cubism, the artist has fragmented the objects down and represented them from several angles to highlight their three-dimensional form, whilst simultaneously emphasising the two-dimensional flatness of the canvas.

This oil on canvas painting is housed in a slim silver frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and there is a small loss to the bottom right corner of the frame, as shown in close ups.
