A gentle and subtle mid-century still life composition, executed in oil on canvas.

The painting features a group of objects including 2 bottles and 2 fruits laid across a platform. A selection of delicate muted colours have been used, and the mix of green and brown shades in the background beautifully pick up the colours of the objects. The artist displays his painterly skills, demonstrating the use of colour gradient to capture the three-dimensional qualities of the objects. Gentle brushstrokes have been executed, imbuing the painting with a touch of softness.

This oil on canvas is housed in a well-decorated frame with an ornate gilt window that suits it perfectly.

The canvas has been trimmed and pinned to the stretcher and there is some minor undulation to the canvas, as well as some wear to its edges where it has been pinned, commensurate with age. There is a small area of paint loss to lower right corner of the painting, as well as a small area of craquelure to its lower edge, but paint layer is stable overall.  There are some losses to the frame’s decoration on the inner edge.
