An exuberant and playful modernist city scene, executed in oil onto canvas, by Swedish artist Uno Vallman (born 1913) whose works are included in the Swedish National Museum, The Swedish Modern Museum and some other museums. His works are also included in the collections of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter and the Tessin Institute in Paris.
Painted in a very distinctive style, the Vallman as used a plethora of rich and lively colours to create this composition of which includes colourful structures as well as figures in front of them. The flamboyant style and imaginative forms of the city buildings are reminiscent of the Catalan artist and architect Gaudí.
This fun and playful oil would make for a brilliant statement piece in an interior space.
This oil on canvas is housed in a decorative gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some scuffing, but this does not detract from the overall attractiveness of the piece.
