Abstract Facade
SOLD.
An outstanding mid-century composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1953.
The composition showcases a creative blend of abstract elements and architectural influence, as the artist has skillfully deconstructed what appears to be facade of houses into simplified blocks, emphasising contrasting colours and geometric shapes that interact with one another.
A restrained palette of muted tones including shades of yellow, brown, blue, and cream have been used, adding depth and warmth to the composition.
This oil on canvas is housed in a well-suited wood frame with an inner linen border. There is a small area of very light craquelure to the right hand section of the painting as shown, but paint layer is stable. There is some age toning present to linen border of the frame.
Size: 45 x 53 cm (including frame)
