A pleasant and well-executed mid 20th century still life oil composition, depicting a flower pot placed on a window sill, with a glimpse into the surroundings outside.
Upon looking at the painting, our eyes are immediately drawn to the flower vase, as its bolder colours are in contrast to the light and gentle pastel shades of the remaining forms.
Through the use of swift and straight brushstrokes, the artist displays his painterly skills by utilising bold outlines as well as qualities of the shading technique and smooth gradation of colour to not only give rise to the various forms in the composition, but also to give the illusion of depth and dimensionality.
This oil on canvas is housed in a gilt frame with lovely red undertones. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
Size: 52.5 x 44.5 cm (including frame)
