A soothing and restful modernist street scene composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

Simple yet effective in its composition, the painting presents a street scene lined with buildings, and with some trees positioned amongst them.

The artist has skilfully deconstructed the scene down to blocks of contrasting colours, lending a modern and abstract touch to the painting.

An array of muted earthy hues including shades of blue, orange, green, and yellow have been used, accentuating the composition’s overall tranquillity and imbuing the scene with a sense of calmness and harmony.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting has been previously restored, and has scattered areas of craquelure present, predominantly to its upper left corner. Nevertheless, the paint layer is stable overall. There is also has a small area of paint loss on the surface of the painting in the centre  which has been painted in(as shown in the close-ups).
