A serene mid-century modernist style town scape, executed in oil onto board.

The painting is punctuated by a row of houses in different shapes and sizes in the middle of work, and we can spot a figure sitting on a raised platform at the front of the composition.

Through the use of a muted colour palette and painterly brushstrokes, the artist wonderfully captures the fleeting effects of the sunset. There is an interplay between light and shadow – with parts of the houses portrayed sunlit in light yellow and other parts of the painting in the shadows with darker muted earthy tones.

This oil on board is housed in a stunning deep-profiled gilt frame with an inner white window. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and there are some scuffs to the left edge of the frame.
