A striking modernist street scene composition, executed in oil onto board.

This painting depicts an early morning or evening scene during winter of a charming neighbourhood, where a stretch of road surrounded by snow-filled grounds leads up to a row of bold red and orange houses with black outlines.

Painted in an expressionist manner, the artist has used a combination of uplifting colours as well as expressive and energetic brushstrokes –  adding a beautiful uplifting quality to the painting.

This oil on board is housed in its original mid century gilt frame with an inner white window.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some scuffing and marks, commensurate with age.
