An enchanting and playful figurative landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas by Swedish artist Uno Vallman (1913-2004), whose works are included in the Swedish National Museum and The Swedish Modern Museum, to name a few. His works are also included in the collections of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and the Tessin Institute in Paris.

The painting depicts a group of figures in a lush garden landscape setting. The three figures dancing on each side and facing the direction of a tall figure in a striking golden headpiece that punctuates the center of the composition.

Containing elements of fauvism and expressionism, this striking painting emphasises rich colours and decorative patterns.

Rich and lively colours including shades of green, red, and yellow have been applied to the canvas, and through the use of energetic and expressive brushstrokes, the painting is beautifully textured with areas of impasto – where the paint has been applied thickly such that it stands proud from the surface.

The artist has also used black outlines that provide a sketch-like quality that emphasises the silhouettes of the figures and landscape.

This oil on canvas is is housed in a high quality and robust wide profile gilt frame.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has a small scuff to its lower edge as shown in the close up.

A brilliant mid-century figurative composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The painting captures a moment of two female figures walking in conversation at dawn, under a striking blue sky and abstracted brown backdrop.

The figures depicted are slender and elongated, which is typical of the artist Lundqvist’s style. They are stylishly dressed in patterned clothing, reflecting a touch of individuality.
