A enchanting and vibrant mid-century modernist landscape composition that combines elements of fauvism and abstraction, painted in oil onto board.

The setting appears to be a dreamlike outdoor landscape, where a female figure in a flowing blue dress holding a pink umbrella is the focal point. Within the landscape, we can spot some houses and monuments, as well as a shadowy, ambiguous figure on the left, adding intrigue to the scene.

Exhibiting elements of fauvism, the artist has used bold and vibrant colours to evoke mood and atmosphere. A striking palette of non-naturalistic colours such as the vivid pinks, blues, and yellows, have been used, imbuing the scene with vibrancy.

The brushstrokes are loose and expressive, emphasising energy and movement. Although they appear unrestrained, they are thoughtful and precise.

This oil on board is housed in a very well-suited mid-century frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
