  • St Ives Head I

    £1,400

    Available

    Free UK delivery only.

A very atmospheric and expressive abstract landscape painting, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

This abstract oil painting of St Ives Head conveys a powerful impression of the Cornish landscape through bold colour blocks and expressive brushwork. The composition is dominated by a strong horizontal division:

The lower portion features lush, vibrant greens, suggestive of the headland’s grassy terrain. These greens are layered and varied, with hints of dark shadows and occasional streaks of red and orange adding depth and movement. A sweeping form of deep black and charcoal arcs through the upper and middle sections, perhaps alluding to the rocky outcrop of St Ives Head or the moody Atlantic shadows. This shape anchors the piece and creates dramatic contrast. Surrounding these darker masses, icy blues and muted whites evoke the sky and sea, with the brushwork ranging from smooth to vigorously textured. Pops of pink and red in fine linear marks add visual interest and energetic tension across the central area.

The painting is both abstract and landscape-inspired, distilling the raw essence of the coastal headland into expressive colour fields and gestural marks. It reflects the elemental forces of land, sea, and weather typical of St Ives, rendered in a deeply personal, modernist style.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary light grey frame.  Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

    Size: 100 x 100 cm (including frame)

  • Coastal Path

    £740

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

A very atmospheric and expressive landscape painting, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

It is a dynamic, abstracted landscape that captures the essence of walking along a windswept shoreline trail. It blends expressive brushwork, shifting textures, and a vivid, elemental palette to evoke both the physical and emotional experience of the coastline.

Pink dashes and shapes dance across the centre, adding rhythm and possibly indicating human presence, wildflowers, or directional markers on a path. The brushwork is loose, textural, and emotionally charged, capturing fleeting impressions over literal depiction.]

Overall, the painting conveys solitude, discovery, and elemental energy. It’s less about representing a specific location and more about evoking the feeling of being immersed in nature—the wind on your face, the shifting weather, the wide horizon ahead. It celebrates the freedom and introspection of walking the edge between land and sea.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary white frame.  Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

A large, rich and vivid abstract composition, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

This vivid abstract composition  is defined by bold colour fields and energetic gesture, evoking the sensation of boundary, structure, and containment within nature or memory.

It is dominated by a large central mass of deep red, bordered by a sharp vertical white line on the left and a curved pale blue line sweeping across the middle. • Southern Shore

    £740

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

A very atmospheric and expressive abstract landscape painting, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

It captures the emotional essence of a coastal environment rather than a literal depiction, using abstract forms and a painterly style to evoke the energy, complexity, and richness of the scene.

Earthy tones of red, brown, black, and orange dominate the central form, possibly alluding to rock formations, cliffs, or human structures. The bottom area is awash with cool greys, off-whites, and hints of gold, possibly representing a beach or tidal flat.

The atmosphere is introspective yet vigorous, echoing nature’s forces—wind, water, erosion—while remaining grounded in abstract expressionism.

The style is gestural and semi-abstract, reminiscent of mid-20th-century European modernism, where landscape becomes a conduit for emotional expression.

The bird’s legs and talons are bright yellow and its tail feathers are elegantly fanned out in a light cream colour, adding a delicate touch to its otherwise bold appearance.

The background is minimalistic and textured, with a soft, muted beige sky fading into a dark, earthy brown ground, keeping the focus on the central figure.

The artwork is framed in a rustic black wooden frame, which complements the bird’s features and enhances its traditional, handcrafted feel. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some minor scuffing.

British artist Matt Rix spent his childhood in South Africa and now lives with his family on a small holding in rural North Wales. His paintings are uncomplicated, modernist representations influenced by primitive and naïve folk art from times past. Many of the subjects Rix paints are inspired by the animals he sees from day to day. Rix uses recycled materials including discarded paints, boards, frames and backing paper. Much of his work is therefore produced using waste materials resulting in sustainable paintings that evoke a time-worn, nostalgic essence.

  • All the Angles

    £500

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

A fun and edgy one-off original monoprint presented in a coloured frame, by British artist Olivia Bouzyk.

This monoprint is created from two individual stencils on different ghost print monoprint plates in two separate colours (a ghost print is when the plate has already gone through the press). Whilst the different layers are already in different shapes, there are additional dialogues between the different components because of the different shapes that appear within the main shapes as a result of the ghost print.

Olivia works with contrasts in line, colour and form and a sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.

This print, as with the others, has no intended direction, so it can be hung to suit the viewer’s space/inclinations.

This monoprint is housed in a vivid green frame that further enhances the artwork within. It is protected behind a layer of perspex. Both frame and artwork are in excellent condition.

  • Pair of Oils

    £1,200

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

An engaging and powerful pair of abstract compositions by British contemporary artist Lloyd Durling, painted in oil onto linen board. Each signed, titled and dated 2024 on reverse.

Central to these paintings are an intense engagement with oil on linen that explores the interface between painting, drawing and collage. There is a balance between expressive play and tight control and with this comes an expanse of associations that push beyond simple categorisations of abstraction or scale. The information in each painting, given by gesture or mark, is reduced to a fleeting register on the surface, as if each mark has to count.

The idea of topography is of central importance and is explored through continuing walking projects. These serve as opportunities to gather diverse source material through physical and emotional interactions with whichever environment chosen to traverse. It amounts to a kind of urban and rural wandering where the information gathered is reinterpreted or reimagined feeding into a deep connection with landscape, arrangements of ancient monuments, light, shadow and forgotten histories – all of these elements find a way into the work.

Both paintings are oil on linen board and housed in a complementary walnut stained oak frame. Both the paintings and frames are in excellent condition. Each one of these is a one-off unique hand painted piece, so the pair will be available until any one of the pieces is purchased individually. If you prefer to buy an individual piece, you can do so here.

Size: Each one measures 50 x 40 cm (including frame)

  • Harbour Front

    £550

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

A charming harbour town scene painted in 2023 , by British artist Elaine Allender.

This quayside scene has been built up in layers of paper and paint. We see the village houses tumbling down to the quay, the old harbour walls and a couple of boats moored up on the sea. The painting is full of texture, and has some of the charming roughness associated with real harbours.

The upper half is dominated by rows of houses with varied shapes and sizes, featuring pitched roofs and small windows. The colour palette of the buildings includes soft blues, earthy browns, and muted creams, adding a rustic and weathered charm. The architectural details, like chimneys and rooflines, are rendered with textured brushstrokes, enhancing depth and realism. The water reflects the dock and buildings above, rendered in soft, blended tones of blue, peach, and grey, creating a shimmering, rippled effect. The sky occupies the top portion of the painting, featuring dynamic swirls of soft blues and creamy yellows, suggesting a bright, breezy day.

Bright orange buoy-like accents and lifebuoys add pops of colour, drawing attention to specific elements in the scene. The painting’s layered textures and varied strokes add a tactile quality that conveys the atmosphere of a working harbour.

Overall, the painting beautifully captures the essence of a quaint seaside village, with its blend of rustic charm, lively textures, and serene maritime elements.

The painting is bordered by a clean, lime-waxed wooden tray frame that complements the coastal theme. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

  • Remnants of Civilisation

    £410

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

An original abstract painting, executed in oil onto cradled panel.

The painting depicts a landscape theme and explores the concepts of art and architecture. Flat planes in a variety of contrasting colours are arranged together, some intersecting and overlaying, creating an illusion of depth and perspective. These colours are rich and vivid, creating a bright and playful energy. Although smooth and matte in its finish, the artist has included areas where we are able to see the application and texturing of the paint. Juxtaposing the hard angled lines, is a row of scalloping that adds a wonderful detail and draws our eye in.

This oil on cradled panel is ready to hang and does not require a frame. It is in excellent condition.
