  • Pearl

    Pearl

    Sold

    SOLD

A unique and captivating oil on canvas by contemporary Irish artist Jenny Belton.

Featuring a single pearl on a box under a spotlight, this painting by Belton is a comment on the rarity of wisdom. The phrase ‘pearls of wisdom’ comes to mind , and in Belton’s words, “The chances of finding a perfect round pearl in a clam are 100,000 to 1. Wisdom is as rare.”

Belton has a real knack for creating playful and experimental artworks, and this artwork and its irony is just brilliant. The painting has a ‘sister’ piece which depicts a clam shell in a similar setting, which can be seen in the photos. Details of that painting are available to view here.

The painting is unframed but can be hung as is. It is in very good condition.

Jenny Belton is artist based in Dublin, Ireland and has been painting, drawing and making from a young age. Her main inspiration is mid-century art, sculpture, design and architecture in addition to abstract expressionism and the fauvist movement . She drawn to art that is accessible, inclusive and nostalgic and hopes to capture this in her own work.
