    Free UK Shipping Only.

An abstract contemporary painting titled Carn Galver, inspired by the historic mining landscapes of Cornwall, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 2024 by British artist Bo Hilton (b.1961), son of the famous British modern artist Roger Hilton.

Through a restrained yet expressive composition, the artist captures the essence of Carn Galver’s natural and industrial history.

The artist has used a soft and earthy colour palette, combining muted greens, greys, pink, and whites that resemble nature landscape and soft skies. The occasional black and deep brown shapes add contrast and depth, suggesting the presence of mining structures.

The artist’s brushwork balances textured layers with delicate blending.

Overall, the work is contemplative as it balances abstraction with a sense of place. It does not rely on literal representation but instead captures the spirit and natural beauty of the location.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary white tray frame. The painting has light scattered craquelure but the paint layer is stable. The frame has some wear at its lower right corner as shown in close up.

A striking contemporary abstract still life composition that celebrates the beauty and simplicity of everyday objects, painted in oil onto board and dated 1991 by British artist Romi Behrens (1939-2019).

The painting captures an abstract, minimalist arrangement of two distinct objects – a white pitcher and a violin – placed on a bright yellow bench and under a blue surface. With its striking colour, the yellow bench dominates as a focal point, energising the composition and contrasting against the dark black background.

The presence of grid lines in the background suggests a tiled wall, and it adds depth as well as enhances the geometric nature of the composition.

Containing elements of abstraction, the artist has deliberately reduced the objects into bold, simplified shapes and flat planes of colour. The use of thin black outlines further emphasises their shapes.

The brushstrokes are visible and lightly textured, giving the work an expressive feel. The overall intentional lack of intricate details invites the viewer to contemplate the form, colour, and symbolism of everyday objects.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary tray frame.  The painting is in very good vintage condition, and the frame has some minor age wear but is in good condition overall.

A lively and captivating mid-century geometric abstract composition, executed in oil onto board by the established Swedish artist Edvard Andersson (1891-1967), who’s artworks have been represented in several prominent institutions across Malmö, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and also at Helsingborgs Museum.

The painting is filled with an array of geometric shapes painted in rich bold tones of brown, black, yellow, blue, and turquoise. These shapes collide and overlap, creating a rhythmic interplay across the surface.

Amidst the abstract nature of the painting, a subtle mask-like form, a building block, as well as silhouettes of figures emerge, adding a touch of mystery to the composition.

  • Pair of Oils

    £1,200

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

An engaging and powerful pair of abstract compositions by British contemporary artist Lloyd Durling, painted in oil onto linen board. Each signed, titled and dated 2024 on reverse.

Central to these paintings are an intense engagement with oil on linen that explores the interface between painting, drawing and collage. There is a balance between expressive play and tight control and with this comes an expanse of associations that push beyond simple categorisations of abstraction or scale. The information in each painting, given by gesture or mark, is reduced to a fleeting register on the surface, as if each mark has to count.

The idea of topography is of central importance and is explored through continuing walking projects. These serve as opportunities to gather diverse source material through physical and emotional interactions with whichever environment chosen to traverse. It amounts to a kind of urban and rural wandering where the information gathered is reinterpreted or reimagined feeding into a deep connection with landscape, arrangements of ancient monuments, light, shadow and forgotten histories – all of these elements find a way into the work.

Both paintings are oil on linen board and housed in a complementary walnut stained oak frame. Both the paintings and frames are in excellent condition. Each one of these is a one-off unique hand painted piece, so the pair will be available until any one of the pieces is purchased individually. If you prefer to buy an individual piece, you can do so here.

Size: Each one measures 50 x 40 cm (including frame)

Lloyd Durling is a British artist working in London. His practice is painting-based and he has exhibited widely throughout Europe, U.S.A and Asia. In 2017 he was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. Works are held in both public and private collections worldwide.

  • Tabletop Ensemble

    £1,050

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

A brilliantly executed mid-century still life composition that contains elements of cubism and abstraction, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1959.

The artist has deconstructed everyday objects—like pitchers, cups, and tables—into geometric shapes and overlapping planes, creating a layered, fragmented perspective that invites viewers to explore multiple dimensions simultaneously.

The colour palette is a blend of muted, earthy tones, such as olive green, mustard yellow, burnt orange, and dark teal, combined with accents of grey and black. These colours contribute to a warm yet restrained atmosphere.  The shapes are outlined and juxtaposed with tonal shifts, which gives depth to the flat surfaces.

The brushstrokes are smooth and controlled, enhancing the sense of geometric clarity and maintaining the structured composition. This painting evokes a sense of stillness and balance, achieved through the careful arrangement of shapes and colours.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame frame. The painting has some scattered losses at its edges as shown, but is overall in good vintage condition otherwise.

An oustanding semi-abstract figurative oil composition, painted in 1957 by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum.

The artwork captures the poised and elegant presence of five Spanish ladies, all dressed in black outfits, seated side by side. Semi-abstract in nature, the painting omits realistic details, including facial features, to focus on the interplay of colour and brushwork. The overall colour palette is restrained, featuring shades of sand, brown, and black, with subtle hints of deep red and blue peeking through, adding an underlying complexity to the painting.

This mid-century expressive and emotive oil portrait delves into the depths of the human psyche with an intriguing depiction of a male figure in a brown shirt.
