A very captivating and richly toned original painting by British artist Frances Daws.
Inspired by the quiet familiarity of travelling the same country roads time and time again, Frances distils the landscape into memory rather than reality. Instead of capturing every field and hedgerow, she paints the essence of a place as it lingers in the mind.
A deliberately muted palette of deep greens, earthy reds and soft pinks creates a gentle rhythm across the canvas, while subtle glimpses of the underpainting unify the composition and hint at the layers beneath our own recollections. Frances Daws is a British Artist working in the Southwest of England. Primarily a painter she also works within printmaking. Having lived by the English coastline and now residing within the countryside her work is often formed by ‘colour journeys’ a form of mapping the landscape through the emotive language of colour.
