A subdued and soothing mid-century modernist style composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

Two figures in yellow sombreros punctuate the foreground of the painting. Their slender dark silhouettes contrast slightly against a brown earthy landscape, and we can discern they could be farmers. The surrounding environment behind them portrays white buildings of differing heights, stretching out into the distance under a grey sky.

The artist has used muted blocks of brown, white, and grey. These earthy colours create a subdued atmosphere, evoking a sense of nostalgia. The brushstrokes in the painting are gentle and smooth, creating a sense of calmness throughout the artwork.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very light scuffing.
