    Sold

    SOLD

A fun and edgy one-off original digitally manipulated monoprint sandwiched between a custom perspex frame, by British artist Olivia Bouzyk.

This is a digital monoprint (only one exists, it is original and one-of-a-kind) of a scanned in monoprint, which was digitally edited and manipulated. Through the digital editing process Olivia is able to have greater control over the specific colours and textures, emphasising the textural quality of the ink, increasing the scale and saturating the colours, creating a more dynamic dialogue between the lines, forms and colours.

The light qualities of the perspex frame (a frosted green back panel and a tinted clear yellow front) work with the colours within the piece, making the image seem different in every lighting condition. The coloured perspex frames reflect the playful approach Olivia takes when creating each piece. Everything she does is completely unique and different every time.

This composition explores juxtapositions, both formally and conceptually, between two different environments – the urban city and the rural countryside. The straight and angled lines allude to the urban cityscape, while the curved and more organic forms are remiscnent of the rolling countryside.  Olivia works with contrasts in line, colour and form and a sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.

This digitally manipulated monoprint is presented within two layers of coloured perspex that are part of the artistic process.  The perspex frames are custom made to accompany the print that is in them – the colours of the front and back panels are chosen to compliment and work with the colours in the print. A serene and atmospheric mid-century semi-abstract composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

A body of water fills the foreground of the painting, serving as a mirror as it reflects the fragmented, impressionistic forms of the city and indistinct figures along its edge. The water’s surface is painted with loose, sweeping brushstrokes, creating a sense of movement and fluidity.

In the middle ground, two indistinct figures traverse towards a bridge. In the background, the cityscape and foliage fill the canvas, their forms abstracted and simplified down into geometric shapes and overlapping forms.

The overall mood of the painting is contemplative – brought forth through the use of a soft and subdued muted colour palette as well as loose and expressive brushwork that evoke a sense of nostalgia.

This small but very effective oil on canvas is housed in a deep profile dark blue-grey frame with an inner silver border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

    Size: 29 x 34 cm (including frame)

  • Sheep in Winter

    Sheep in Winter

    Sold

    SOLD

A seemingly simple yet very effective oil painting that explores the concepts of minimalism and abstraction, executed in oil onto canvas.

The artwork depicts a group of sheep situated in what we can discern to be a snow-filled landscape setting, where all forms presented are spontaneously outlined in thin black lines.

Upon first glance, this work may be recognised for its childlike simplicity. However as we take time to explore the painting further, we notice that the artist has thoughtfully chosen to eliminate non essentials – focusing our attention to the beautiful essence of colour, unrestrained brushwork, as well as the qualities of lines that may come across as simplistic but inherently powerful enough to give rise to forms.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffs but this does not detract from the overall appearance.

    Size: 56 x 68 cm (including frame)

  • Still Life on Window Sill

    Still Life on Window Sill

    Sold

    SOLD

A solemn mid-century still life composition that captures a tranquil moment with three objects thoughtfully arranged on a window sill, painted in oil onto board and dated 1968.

The artist has used short, distinct brushstrokes that bring a painterly texture to the scene and imbues the work with an expressive quality.

The restrained colour palette, consisting of muted reds, browns, and whites, sets a subdued tone, giving the composition a moody feel.

Depth is achieved through the skilful overlaying of colours, while the use of contrasting light and dark shades accentuate the three-dimensional quality of the objects. The window in the background is minimally suggested, allowing the focus to remain on the quiet arrangement of the objects and the interplay of light and dark tones.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has scuffing and some slight surface paint loss at its bottom left corner.

    Size: 34.5 x 42 cm (including frame)

  • The Winding Path

    The Winding Path

    Sold

    SOLD

A brilliantly executed mid-century modernist style landscape painting, executed in oil onto board and dated 1956.

The composition features a serene and stylised representation of a landscape setting with rolling hills, a winding path, and clusters of trees. In the background, a hint of blue suggests a sea, under a soft, atmospheric blue sky.

Modernist in its ethos, the artist has reduced and abstracted the natural forms into simplified, geometric shapes. The emphasis is on structure and form rather than on intricate detail or realism.

The colour palette is subdued and calm, dominated by earthy greens, browns, blues, and cream.

The brushstrokes are bold and confident, with visible directionality that adds dynamism to the otherwise still scene.

This oil on board is housed in beautiful wood frame with visible grains, that complements the paining very well.  Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

    Size: 58 x 67 cm (including frame)
