Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

This 1972 textile artwork is a charming and vibrant handwoven tapestry that captures a stylised pastoral scene with a distinctly mid-century folk-art feel.

At the forefront, a small group of white geese with orange beaks and feet stand together on patterned ground rendered in blocks of green, orange, grey, and ochre. Behind them, a traditional half-timbered thatched cottage is depicted in a highly geometric and simplified way—its yellow roof and blue-paned windows contrasting sharply against a bright cobalt-blue sky filled with rhythmic vertical strokes.

The composition is bordered by a narrow red frame and set against a neutral linen backing, giving it a crisp and contained presentation. The overall design is bold yet playful, with an emphasis on pattern, symmetry, and texture rather than realism.

Typical of the 1970s Scandinavian and Northern European textile aesthetic, this piece blends warmth and modernity—balancing homely rural imagery with strong graphic abstraction. The craftsmanship, use of colour blocking, and tactile quality of the woven surface all contribute to its charmingly naive yet sophisticated appeal.

This vintage tapestry remains in very good condition. It is mounted onto fabric lined board, and is ready to hang. The needlepoint is very slightly irregular, which is typical for handmade or traditionally textile pieces, adding to its authenticity and charm.

  • The Fruit Tree

    The Fruit Tree

    £70

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

This 1976 textile artwork is a beautifully expressive handwoven tapestry that captures the spirit of Scandinavian modernist design with a touch of whimsy and surrealism.

At the centre stands a stylised tree with branching limbs rendered in deep shades of indigo, teal, and plum. Instead of natural foliage, the branches bear striking, eye-like fruit in vivid oranges, pinks, reds, and purples — each orb outlined with black and white stripes or concentric shapes, giving them an almost mystical or watchful quality. Beneath, smaller tulip-like forms in turquoise, violet, and magenta rise like decorative ground flora, adding a rhythmic base to the composition.

The backdrop is composed of vertical bands of blue — from light azure to midnight — creating a sense of depth and twilight atmosphere. The entire woven section is bordered by a neutral linen mount, giving it a clean, contemporary presentation that contrasts beautifully with the saturated hues.

The piece exudes both harmony and imagination: its bold abstraction and graphic patterning are softened by the tactile warmth of wool. The artist transforms a simple motif — a tree — into something symbolic and joyous, evoking themes of growth, mystery, and interconnectedness.

It’s a quintessential example of 1970s Scandinavian textile art — modernist yet folk-inspired, decorative yet poetic, bursting with colour and life.

This vintage tapestry remains in very good condition. It is mounted onto fabric lined board, and is ready to hang. The needlepoint is very slightly irregular, which is typical for handmade or traditionally textile pieces, adding to its authenticity and charm.

A mid-century modernist painting presents a vibrant yet soothing interpretation of houses by a hillside, depicted in a bold, semi-abstract style,  executed in oil onto canvas.

A very well executed contemporary coastal composition, painted onto canvas by British artist Nicky Knill Jones.

This painting portrays a vast, windswept beach under a dramatic, cloud-streaked sky. The horizon is low and dark, with rolling hills framing the edge of the sea, while the expansive sky dominates the upper half of the canvas in shifting tones of blue and grey.

    £850

    Available

A striking and brilliantly executed mid-century modernist style still life composition, executed in oil onto board.

The central object that punctuates the composition is a light blue pitcher, whose elongated shape gives it a strong presence .Surrounding the pitcher are geometric shapes—a blue cube, a yellow block, and a lemon—that create a rhythm of forms around the central figure. The background consists of abstract, overlapping planes in warm as well as earthy tones – with shades of yellow, brown, red, and green, adding depth to the composition.

This piece reflects the modernist focus on simplification and abstraction, capturing a scene through shapes, colours, and a deliberate absence of fine detail.

A playful and edgy one-off original monoprint presented in a sapele frame, by British artist Olivia Bouzyk.

Unlike most printmaking, where artists create an edition of identical prints, a monoprint produces just one final piece. Olivia works on a plate — inking, painting, and layering textures — and then transfers the image onto paper. But because of the process, it can never be repeated in the same way again.

This artworks is a two layered monoprint which creates new lines and curves through the simple layering. This allows each shape to emphasise its own individuality.

Each work holds the spontaneity of the moment it was made — the way the ink spread, the pressure of the press, the marks left behind. No two are ever alike. When you own one of Olivia’s prints, you’re holding the only version that exists.

Olivia works with contrasts in line, colour and form and a sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.

This artwork, as with the others, has no intended direction, so it can be hung to suit the viewer’s space/inclinations. The fixtures on the back of all the prints are on each side so that they can be hung in any direction, and the signature also has no intended direction.

A lively mid-century modernist style landscape oil painting, by Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

At the heart of the composition lies a wooden cart with large wheels casting cool blue shadows across a warm orange path. Behind it, simplified forms of houses – painted in muted orange, coral red, and powder blue – sit neatly among rounded green trees and trimmed hedgerows.

The artist has used a flattened perspective and geometric abstraction, reducing the scene to bold shapes and colour fields. The palette is both playful and restrained;  the shadows and structures are stylised, offering just enough detail to ground the viewer in a familiar rural setting, while leaving space for interpretation.

    Abstract Plants

    £320

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

A small and visually impactful semi-abstract composition in oil, painted by British artist Lloyd Durling,

The surface is thick with textured impasto, giving the work a tactile, almost sculptural presence. The composition is divided into vivid colour blocks—warm corals, sunny yellows, soft aquas, and hints of mint—intersected by expressive black and blue marks that suggest organic forms.

Lloyd’s use of thick paint application invites a physical response—you can almost feel the surface just by looking at it. This rich texture adds depth and dynamism, engaging the senses beyond the visual.

The loosely defined forms gives us viewers just enough to begin imagining plants and stems without being literal. Its small size encourages close, personal viewing. It feels like a private experience—something to be studied and absorbed in a quiet moment. A perfect example of how small artworks can carry a big impact.

This impasto painting is mounted a dark stained oak frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

Lloyd is based in London and his practice is painting-based. His first international solo show was in 2010 at Golden in Chicago and he has exhibited widely throughout Europe, Asia and the US. In 2017 he was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. Lloyd’s works are held in public and private collections worldwide, including the Whitworth Art Gallery and Museum, Progressive collection, America and Nomura Bank, Japan.

The paintings in this series respond to the calming presence of the colour green. Frances consciously spends as much time as she can outside. She lives close to woodlands and fields, making it easy to be immersed within greenery. Resting in Green seeks to capture the varying shades of greens within a snapshot of plants and how the relationship of these colours can form interesting compositions.

This fluid, abstract composition immerses the viewer in a serene, verdant atmosphere. Dominated by various shades of green, interwoven with hints of olive, moss, turquoise, and muted ochre, the work evokes the sensation of being enveloped by nature.

Organic, curvilinear forms ripple across the canvas, overlapping and intertwining in a way that mimics the foliage that Frances is inspired by. She employs layered brushwork and soft transitions between tones, creating a gentle rhythm that guides the eye across the piece.

There’s a meditative stillness in the work, capturing the quiet energy of an abstracted garden. Despite its abstraction, the composition feels balanced and harmonious, with light and dark greens playing off each other in a soothing visual dialogue.

Both the painting and frame are in excellent condition. The artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity and signature on the reverse.

Frances Daws is a British Artist working in the Southwest of England. Primarily a painter she also works within printmaking. Having lived by the English coastline and now residing within the countryside her work is often formed by ‘colour journeys’ a form of mapping the landscape through the emotive language of colour.

A striking abstract composition that explores depth and tension through bold, jagged forms that evoke architectural silhouettes or fragmented memories, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1992 on reverse.

Rendered in a palette dominated by cobalt blue, mustard yellow, black, and fiery orange, the painting crackles with energetic contrast. Dense, vertical planes in near-black anchor the work, while layers of scraped and scratched pigment reveal underlying tones, adding texture and movement.

The brushwork is expressive and layered – some areas thick with impasto, others scumbled  – suggesting both spontaneity and deliberate structure. The interplay of shadow and saturated colour creates a visual rhythm that pulls the viewer inward, echoing the emotional intensity of late 20th-century abstraction.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary grey painted wood frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

An evocative modernist cityscape captured at dusk, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1975.

As dimming light softens the urban edges, the artist has reduced architectural forms into geometric planes – warehouses, blocky high-rises, and rows of parked railcars — giving the scene a rhythmic, almost abstracted structure. The visual repetition of lampposts, silhouetted trees, and building facades hints at both the order and the monotony of this cityscape.

Rendered in a subdued palette of dusky blues, muted greys, burnt orange, and deep maroons, the painting conveys the quiet atmosphere of a city settling into evening. A band of still water in the foreground reflects the urban glow and breaks up the composition with cool, shimmering blues.

The brushwork is deliberate and textured, with blocky applications of paint that build the scene from tonal shifts rather than fine detail. This confident handling of light and shape suggests a moment observed from a distance – contemplative, grounded, and imbued with quiet power.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some loss as shown.

A vibrant mid-century modernist abstract painting that captures the essence of a dynamic landscape through expressive colour and bold, gestural form, executed in oil onto canvas.

Angular hills in deep burgundy, forest green, and charcoal anchor the composition, while slender white tree trunks stretch vertically across a kaleidoscopic backdrop.

The trees, with their loosely rendered, wind-blown canopies of green, sway dramatically, suggesting motion and energy. The background unfolds in blocks of pastel and saturated hues – blue, lavender, peach, lemon yellow, and vivid cyan – creating a sense of fragmented light and spatial ambiguity.

Executed in lively, expressive brushstrokes and confident swaths of colour, the work evokes both the emotional resonance of nature and the structural experimentation of modernist form. The artist’s bold palette and rhythmic composition echo the influence of abstraction while retaining a distinctly personal and poetic sensibility.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has scuffing.

A very atmospheric and expressive landscape painting, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

It is a dynamic, abstracted landscape that captures the essence of walking along a windswept shoreline trail. It blends expressive brushwork, shifting textures, and a vivid, elemental palette to evoke both the physical and emotional experience of the coastline.

Pink dashes and shapes dance across the centre, adding rhythm and possibly indicating human presence, wildflowers, or directional markers on a path. The brushwork is loose, textural, and emotionally charged, capturing fleeting impressions over literal depiction.]

Overall, the painting conveys solitude, discovery, and elemental energy. It’s less about representing a specific location and more about evoking the feeling of being immersed in nature—the wind on your face, the shifting weather, the wide horizon ahead. It celebrates the freedom and introspection of walking the edge between land and sea.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary white frame.  Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

A large, rich and vivid abstract composition, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

This vivid abstract composition  is defined by bold colour fields and energetic gesture, evoking the sensation of boundary, structure, and containment within nature or memory.

It is dominated by a large central mass of deep red, bordered by a sharp vertical white line on the left and a curved pale blue line sweeping across the middle. To the right, a vibrant orange block contrasts with cooler greens and earth tones in the lower and left portions. The composition is off-center and dynamic, with the eye pulled toward the intersection of curves and edges.

The brushstrokes are expressive and textural, with areas of scraped paint, blending, and layering giving a sense of physical depth.

The painting could allude to land boundaries, personal space, or emotional states—open to interpretation but rich in atmosphere. There’s a sense of tactile exploration and spatial ambiguity, making the piece both visceral and contemplative.

A very atmospheric and expressive abstract landscape painting, executed in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

It captures the emotional essence of a coastal environment rather than a literal depiction, using abstract forms and a painterly style to evoke the energy, complexity, and richness of the scene.

Earthy tones of red, brown, black, and orange dominate the central form, possibly alluding to rock formations, cliffs, or human structures. The bottom area is awash with cool greys, off-whites, and hints of gold, possibly representing a beach or tidal flat.

The atmosphere is introspective yet vigorous, echoing nature’s forces—wind, water, erosion—while remaining grounded in abstract expressionism.

The style is gestural and semi-abstract, reminiscent of mid-20th-century European modernism, where landscape becomes a conduit for emotional expression.

A large and very atmospheric landscape painting, painted onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood.

This semi-abstract landscape powerfully captures the wild, changeable atmosphere of the Cornish coast, likely inspired by the moody environment near the village of Zennor in southwest England.

The sky dominates the composition with a bold expanse of turquoise blue, suggesting a clearing or break in weather. A large, dark grey cloud mass occupies the centre, rendered with sweeping, smudged strokes that create a sense of motion and tension. Deeper greens, browns, and black at the bottom evoke moorland or rugged earth, painted with energetic brushwork and scraped textures.

The painting exudes a dramatic, elemental energy, evoking the feeling of standing exposed to the sky on coastal high ground, just before or after a storm. It feels both expansive and intimate, caught between serenity and threat—hallmarks of Cornwall’s raw natural beauty.

This painting  is housed in a complementary white frame.  Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

A striking and richly textured mid-century abstract composition, executed in oil onto canvas.
Although abstract in nature, the painting captures a densely clustered mass of vertical forms that suggest a gathering of figures in motion.
The artist has used thick impasto and gestural, almost sculptural brushstrokes to create a palpable sense of depth and emotional intensity. Faces and bodies seem to emerge from the paint, rendered with a raw immediacy that is both haunting and poetic.

The palette is earthy and muted – browns, greys and beige – with punctuations of orange, evoking both the solemnity and vitality of the human condition. The work feels deeply emotive, bordering on the surreal, and invites contemplation on themes of community, anonymity, and collective memory.

    £525

    Available

Free shipping to UK, Europe and Singapore.

A large and captivating mid-century landscape painting that presents a dynamic interplay between abstraction and representation, executed in oil onto canvas.

The painting presents a rural landscape dominated by an angular, white structure – likely a house or barn – set against rugged terrain. The composition balances organic and geometric forms, emphasising the contrast between man-made and natural elements.

The piece embodies elements of abstract expressionism, blending gestural and textured brushstrokes with semi-representational forms. The fragmented, layered approach to the structure hints at collage techniques, while the landscape itself is rendered through broad, sweeping gestures.

Earthy tones dominate the palette, with yellows, browns, and deep greens forming the background and landscape. The structure itself is highlighted with whites and light greys, accented by touches of muted blue.

The artist has used expressive, textured brushwork, layering thick and thin applications of paint. Loose, bold strokes define the landscape, while the structure features more deliberate, angular marks, emphasising the contrast between organic scenery and constructed form. The brushstrokes convey a sense of movement and depth, giving the impression of a weathered, windswept setting.

This large oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. There are some minor scuffs to bottom left frame corner, but it is in good condition otherwise.

A brilliantly executed abstract composition drawn in biro onto paper, by British artist Enos Lovatt (1937-2018).

This intricate composition has a dynamic, surreal quality, filled with abstract forms and stylised figures. The cross-hatching and dense linework typical of biro drawings are skilfully used to create depth, contrast, and texture. The artist plays with positive and negative space, using white areas effectively to highlight the main forms amidst the dark, densely filled background.

The drawing has strong influences from Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism, with its dream-like imagery and focus on fluidity, symbolism, and subconscious forms. There’s a sense of narrative, though it remains open-ended and abstract, encouraging personal interpretation.

Overall, the piece is bold, intricate, and highly textured, showcasing the meticulous potential of the humble biro pen in the hands of a skilled artist.

Both the drawing and frame are in excellent vintage condition. The painting is presented within a card mount and a stained black wooden frame, and is protected behind perspex.

Enos Lovatt (1937–2018) studied at Burslem School of Art and the Royal College of Art (1959–1962) before becoming Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Staffordshire Polytechnic until 1992. A prolific artist, he worked in oils, gouache, acrylics, ceramics, and biro, leaving behind thousands of works. He exhibited sporadically, including solo shows in City Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent, one man shows at the Paton and Woodstock Galleries in London and at Stafford Museum and Art Gallery.

In the early 1990s, Enos lost most of the three middle fingers on his dominant right hand in a lawnmower accident. The biros allowed him to navigate his vivid and unique imagination and bring the thoughts and images in his head to life in their purest form of magic realism. This drawing was created in the early 2000s.

A large mid century modernist composition in gouache, by British artist Enos Lovatt (1937-2018).

This expressive gouache painting features a collection of abstract, stylized human figures, arranged vertically against a bold turquoise background. The figures are outlined with heavy black lines, giving them a graphic, almost childlike quality. Each character has a distinct presence but is rendered with simplified forms and exaggerated facial features.

The gouache medium allows for bold, opaque colour application, giving the painting a vibrant, matte finish. Visible brushstrokes and unrefined edges enhance the raw, expressive energy.

Overall, this piece feels dynamic and full of personality, with a playful yet intense aesthetic that invites viewers to interpret the relationships and emotions of the figures.

The painting is presented within a card mount and a ochre wooden frame with silver leaf detailing, and is protected behind perspex. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

Enos Lovatt (1937–2018) studied at Burslem School of Art and the Royal College of Art (1959–1962) before becoming Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Staffordshire Polytechnic until 1992. Much of Enos’ work on paper from the 1950s to 1970s uses gouache, often in tandem with other media. Gouache allowed his joy and passion for colour to shine. Enos’ work straddled the worlds of figurative and abstracted art as he dipped into both with equal enthusiasm.
