A striking and lively mid-century modernist style oil painting by Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The composition captures a vibrant dining scene on an open-air terrace.

Modernist in its ethos, the artist has skilfully reduced the composition down to blocks of contrasting colour. The use of rich saturated colours—ranging from warm orange, to azure blue and to lush forest greens—creates a vivid contrast that breathes life into the composition. In addition to this, expressive and painterly dabs have been executed with a confident hand.
