A very well executed mid century modernist landscape composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

The artist has juxtaposed the hard angles and stark colours of the buildings against the more organic curves and earthier colours of the natural landscape behind it. There is a sense that the mountains in the background have a significance presence, casting its shadow on the village below. The palette is restrained, focusing instead on the forms of the buildings and mountains. There is a restfulness to this painting, evoking a sense of calm and peacefulness.

The painting is housed in a dark wood frame with a linen border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has a small loss to the lower left corner as shown in the photos, but this is not visible when looking at the painting front on.
