A lively and energetic landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1968 by Swedish artist Uno Vallman (1913-2004) whose works are included in the Swedish National Museum, the Swedish Modern Museum, and also in the collections of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and the Tessin Institute in Paris.
This striking painting presents a female figure walking on a pathway through a farmland. we can spot some cows in the foreground, and red barns in the middle ground. The background depicts valleys and mountains lining the distant horizon.
Containing elements of fauvism and expressionism, this painting emphasises rich colours and decorative pattern.
An array of vibrant and saturated colours as well as distinct energetic and intuitive brushstrokes fill the canvas, imbuing the work with a sense of dynamism. The artist has also used black outlines that provide a sketch-like quality that emphasises the silhouettes of respective forms.
This oil on canvas is housed in a very unique and decoratively painted wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very minor scuffs.
