    A brilliant mid-century figurative composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

    The painting captures a scene of two figures under moonlight. On the left beside a patterned curtain, a harlequin is stylishly dressed in a hat and in checkered clothing. Behind him on the right, is a ballerina in green.

    They appear to be on an outdoor stage, and the artist has captured the evening scene in a very elegant manner, using muted tones of blueish greens to capture the moonlit glow.

    The artist’s brushstrokes are gentle, soft, and precise, reflecting a careful attention to detail. The overall muted colours create a subdued and mysterious atmosphere.

    This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner gilt window that suits that painting very well. The painting is in very good condition, and the frame has some minor scuffing. but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance of the piece.
