However, there is a very balanced rhythm through the picture, encouraging us viewers to weave our view in and out, up and down and around the composition to explore the form of each object. Jenny Belton is artist based in Dublin, Ireland and has been painting, drawing and making from a young age. Her main inspiration is mid-century art, sculpture, design and architecture in addition to abstract expressionism and the fauvist movement. She drawn to art that is accessible, inclusive and nostalgic and hopes to capture this in her own work.

A brilliantly executed mid century modernist landscape in oil, painted on board.

Featuring a panoramic landscape view of the countryside, this oil painting would make the perfect piece to rest tired eyes on. Wide green plains can be seen in the bottom half of the picture, with a farmhouse to the right and trees dotted across. The artist has used long sweeping brushstrokes to paint in the landscape which fades off into the the horizon, almost unending. A large proportion of the composition is the sky, which adds to the panoramic effect, paint in soft white, grey and blue.

This oil on board is beautifully presented in a wood frame with a an inner silver border that illuminates the painting. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some minor scuffing.

An engaging and powerful abstract composition by British contemporary artist Lloyd Durling, painted in oil onto linen board. Signed, titled and dated 2024 on reverse.

Central to this painting is an intense engagement with oil on linen that explore the interface between painting, drawing and collage. There is a balance between expressive play and tight control and with this comes an expanse of associations that push beyond simple categorisations of abstraction or scale. The information in each painting, given by gesture or mark, is reduced to a fleeting register on the surface, as if each mark has to count.

The idea of topography is of central importance and is explored through continuing walking projects. These serve as opportunities to gather diverse source material through physical and emotional interactions with whichever environment chosen to traverse. It amounts to a kind of urban and rural wandering where the information gathered is reinterpreted or reimagined feeding into a deep connection with landscape, arrangements of ancient monuments, light, shadow and forgotten histories – all of these elements find a way into the work.

This oil on linen board is housed in a complementary walnut stained oak frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.
