A large and very striking mid century modernist abstract composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

Although largely abstract, we can just about discern a scene of several terraced houses. The artist has reduced this townscape scene into abstract forms and shapes, using contrasting colours to create a sense of depth within the composition. He has used a warm and rich palette of terracotta red, orange and black. The paint has been applied thickly, creating areas of impasto and texture throughout the composition.

The painting is on stretched canvas and can be hung unframed. There is some scattered craquelure and general age wear that is commensurate with age, but the painting is stable and looks good overall.
