A visually striking modernist landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1955.

The landscape painting presents a scenic view of a pathway lined with trees, with a view of the Pyrenees mountains in the background.

Drawing on a distinctly modernist ethos, the artist has masterfully reduced this landscape scene down to blocks of contrasting colour, and explores the use of colour and brushstrokes to create a sense of depth and space in this painting.

An array of muted pastel colours including shades of blues, purples and green,  have been executed with short and expressive brushstrokes, imbuing the work with an energising and uplifting feel.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary silver frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some very minor scuffing, but nothing that detracts from its overall appearance.
