An atmospheric mid-century modernist style landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

The composition depicts a lush forest with stylized trees and yellow fields, and a sky rendered in muted blue and grey tones with horizontal strokes that resemble clouds.

Semi-abstract in nature, all realistic details have been omitted and the forms have been simplified into geometric shapes and flat planes that evoke a sense of structure and balance to the painting.

The artist’s smooth brushwork is complemented by areas of sgraffito (where a tool has been used to scratch into the paint) that surround the silhouettes of the respective forms, accentuating their shapes and adding interest to the painting.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary wood frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
