A very large, vibrant and emotive portrayal of a picturesque Italian landscape, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1949.

The artist has captured small, charming houses with terracotta roofs nestled amidst a lush, verdant landscape. Their warm hues contrast beautifully with the surrounding greenery.

Containing elements of fauvism, the artist has employed the expressive use of rich and striking colour to evoke emotions and create visual impact. The trees and foliage burst with an array of greens, from deep forest green to bright lime, creating a sense of depth and movement.

The brushstrokes are expressive and energetic, conveying a sense of joy and liveliness.

Close to a meter in width, this painting will make a statement piece in any interior.

This large oil on canvas is housed in a very well-suited gilt frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
