An atmospheric modernist style landscape painting, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1972.

This painting depicts  a row of farmhouses that stretch across the centre of the composition, surrounded by terrain land in the foreground and a greenish-blue sky at dawn above.

Working with a limited colour palette, the artist has balanced the landscape and the sky, emphasising their equal importance in creating the overall mood of the painting and contrast of light and dark.

The swift and expressive brushstrokes used in the foreground convey a sense of dynamism, and the gentler brushstrokes used to paint the sky above wonderfully captures the calm of the morning sky.

This oil on canvas is housed in an attractive multi window silver and linen detail frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some minor marks on its silver border.
