There is a cohesive to the palette of the composition, as the background of the painting echoes the colours of the figures’ outfits.  It has been split into 3 horizontal parts, which also seem to match up with the 3 parts of the two figures (hat, head, torso).

    The movement of the artist’s brush is visible in the piece, adding to its painterly character and creating a lovely textural effect. There is a timeless and pensive vibe to the piece.

    The painting is housed in a painted wood frame. There is a very small area of paint loss to the left side of the painting as shown in the photos, but the paint layer is stable overall. The frame has some scuffing present.
