Kids at Play

SOLD

A large and very striking modernist style figurative oil composition by Swedish painter Hans Osswald (1919-1983), whose works have been exhibited at the National Museum in Stockholm, Malmö Museum, as well as The Brooklyn Museum.

This playful and affectionate figurative composition depicts the silhouette of 2 young boys. The figure on the right appears to be jumping for joy, and the figure of the left appears to have his hand raised in excitement.

The artist has used rich colours to paint the figures, contrasting against a lighter coloured background featuring softer muted shades of blues, greens and grey.

Upon close inspection of the painting, one can notice how the artist has skilfully layered contrasting swathes of colours to reveal a light texture and interest to this heartwarming painting.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner gilt window. The top left quadrant of painting has slight indentation to the canvas, otherwise, the painting is in very good vintage condition.
