Fruits on a Table

A joyful and playful mid-century modernist still life oil composition painted in 1948 by the established Swedish artist Ture Fabiansson (1910-1994), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, The Museum of Art in Gothenburg, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and many others.

The composition centers around a group of fruit placed atop a table, and against a patterned pastel backdrop with circular shapes.

The painting encapsulates a playful quality through the thoughtful execution of shape and colour – with circular patterns surrounding the circular fruit on the table.

The colour palette comprises soft brushwork as well as light and delicate pastel shades of peach, greens and blues, creating a gentle and pleasant atmosphere.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame with a white tint. The painting is in excellent condition, and the frame has some minor scuffs to its left edge.
