• Form & Field (Set of 2)

Form & Field (Set of 2)

    Sold

    SOLD

A striking mid-century set of abstract paintings that presents a dynamic exploration of geometry, movement, and texture, executed in oil onto board.

One panel is anchored by overlapping arch forms that slice through fields of green and magenta, intersected by rectilinear blocks in turquoise, purple, and orange. The other panel contrasts this with an organic constellation of amoeba-like shapes in plum, teal, and periwinkle, suspended over a rich patchwork of angled planes.

Rendered in a meticulous crosshatch technique, the surface of each panel vibrates with energy. The artist has used fine, directional brushstrokes to build a complex tactile field, imbuing the composition with a sense of movement and dimensionality. The colour palette is both earthy and vibrant.

Together, the panels evoke the duality of logic and intuition, with the left panel leaning toward structured geometry and the right into fluid abstraction, making this set a compelling addition to any art collection.

These oils on board come as a pair, and are each housed in a complementary wood frame. Both paintings and frames are in excellent vintage condition.

Size of each painting: 42 x 31.5 cm (including frame)

  • Geometric Collage in Raw Umber

    Geometric Collage in Raw Umber

    Sold

    SOLD

A very unique original artwork by British artist Dave Boyd, constructed from discarded books (repurposed cloth covers, papers, cardboard, binding boards) mounted on a wooden panel in a solid wood float frame.

The background is composed of a richly textured, raw umber surface made from aged book cloth, divided horizontally at its midpoint, enhancing the piece’s sense of structure and symmetry. The material bears the worn, mottled patina of time, evoking a tactile warmth and nostalgic depth.

Centrally placed is a vertical arrangement of nine small rectangles, each made from a different swatch of book cloth. These blocks vary in hue—soft blues, warm reds, ochres, deep burgundy, and neutral beige—and are carefully aligned to form a grid-like column. Their tight geometry contrasts with the organic wear of the background, creating visual tension and balance.

The artwork is presented in wood frame that suits it very well. It has been constructed with professional grade adhesive and is shipped with robust fixings, ready to hang, Both artwork and frame are in excellent condition.

Dave’s artistic practice focuses on the juxtaposition between the manmade and the natural and the human experience of geometric forms, surfaces and materials. Paintings and collages often embody a built or constructed aesthetic and are strongly influenced by architecture and the built environment, with the aim of suggesting visual encounters with structures and landscapes. Utilising and repurposing materials,  with a focus on minimal composition, surface and colour, Dave’s work seek to utilise the subtle marks inherent in objects that have been used and handled over many years.

An expressive contemporary Cornish coastal abstraction painting, executed in oil on board and dated 2023.

Abstract in nature and titled ‘Hot Day at Prussia Cove’, the painting captures the essence of Prussia Cove, a secluded and rugged coastal area in Cornwall, on a sweltering summer’s day. The composition is a striking interplay of geometric forms and gestural marks, evoking the interplay of land, sea, and sky under the intensity of the sun.

    SOLD

A large, striking and very well balanced abstract composition, painted in oil with areas of collage.

This painting features a dynamic interplay of geometric shapes and layered textures, rendered in a muted, earthy palette with bursts of colour.

The dominant tones are cool greys and greens, softened with washes of white and dusty blue, punctuated by vibrant rusty oranges, ochres, and pale pinks. Man on a Bench

    Sold

A brilliantly executed semi-abstract oil composition painted in by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum.

Here we have a semi abstract composition of a man seated on a bench. Morsing has used a restrained palette- focusing mainly on blue, green, yellow and black. He has juxtaposed the lighter colours against the darker colours in order create depth and perspective within the composition. Realistic details have been intentionally left out, but we get a palpable sense that the figure is surrounded by trees and dappled light. Swift and expressionist brushstrokes have been applied to the canvas, giving this pieces its textured and painterly qualities.

  • Matrix (Very Large)

    Matrix (Very Large)

    Sold

    SOLD

A very large and striking 21st-century abstract geometric painting, executed in oil on canvas.

This mesmerising painting is composed entirely of triangular shapes arranged in a tight, grid-like pattern. The triangles are painted in a restricted but bold palette of black, dark brown, white, and a soft cream, which creates a strong visual rhythm and contrast across the canvas. There is a visual order but the subtle shifts in orientation and colour prevent it from becoming monotonous.

The stark contrast between deep browns, black, and crisp white creates strong visual impact, but the occasional soft cream triangle adds warmth and breaks the binary, giving the eye a place to rest.

From afar the painting looks clean, precise and monotone. But as you move toward it and study its intricacies, you begin to realise the range of colours and the visible brushstrokes, which further enhances the fact that this is indeed a hand painted piece with more subtle details that are not immediately obvious at first glance.

The restrained colour scheme enhances sophistication. It feels modern and timeless, making it versatile in a range of settings from minimalist homes to design-forward spaces.

This large oil on canvas is housed in a very well suited black frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some scuffing present.

    Size: 80 x 120 cm (including frame)

  • Port Construct

    Port Construct

    Sold

    SOLD.

A striking mid-century abstract painting that explores the structural rhythms of a harbour or port cityscape, rendered through a bold interplay of geometric forms and mirrored reflections, and executed in oil onto board.

Angular shapes and intersecting planes suggest industrial architecture – perhaps cranes and bridges – set against a waterfront backdrop. The lower half of the canvas evokes the surface of water, softly reflecting the rigid structures above.

Executed in thick, expressive brushstrokes, the artist has used a restrained yet dynamic palette of cool sea-blues, teal greens, soft greys, and sandy browns, punctuated by touches of deep navy and burnt orange. The paint is applied with a wide brush, producing a ridged texture that adds dimension and movement to the flattened forms.

Reminiscent of the modernist abstraction of the 1950s and 60s, the work captures the tension between nature and industry, fluidity and form – an evocative study in balance and reflection.

This oil on canvas is housed in a very well suited wood frame with a linen border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

  • Reflections at the Grove

    Reflections at the Grove

    Sold

    SOLD

A very pleasant modernist abstract landscape oil composition dated 1974, and painted by the established Swedish artist Ture Fabiansson (1910-1994), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, The Museum of Art in Gothenburg, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and many others.

The painting transforms natural forms into a meditative study of shape and colour. Bold, rounded abstractions suggest a grove of trees or boulders mirrored in a pool of still water, their reflections rendered with gentle distortion across the lower half of the composition.

The palette is earthy yet expressive – muted browns, mossy greens, and greys are punctuated by vivid blues and soft lavender. The use of flattened perspective and blocked-in colour fields is emblematic of modernist abstraction, while the brushwork is firm and intuitive, with visible strokes lending texture and movement to the otherwise serene setting.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some scuffing at its edges.

  • Shadowed Ascent

    Shadowed Ascent

    Sold

    SOLD

A brilliantly executed and compelling abstract landscape with figure oil composition painted in 1953 by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum.

The painting presents silhouetted forms ascending against a fractured, mountainous backdrop. The figures – three discernible shapes rendered in deep charcoal- emerge in the foreground moving through a fragmented terrain, evoking themes of journey, endurance, or spiritual pilgrimage.

Executed in a subdued palette of earthy and muted tones, the painting achieves a rich tonal harmony while emphasising contrast between light and dark. The angular planes and hard-edged abstraction suggest influences of Cubism and Modernist figuration, with geometric simplification shaping both figures and landscape.

Thick, directional brushstrokes lend the work a tactile surface, especially in the earthy sky and rock formations. This adds depth and texture, reinforcing the sense of movement within an otherwise still and solemn scene.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some scuffing but is in good condition overall.

    SOLD

A striking mid-century abstract figurative painting that captures a dynamic group scene with bold, expressive brushstrokes and a rich, layered composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

  • Red Thoughts

    Red Thoughts

    Sold

    SOLD.

An engaging and powerful abstract composition by British contemporary artist Lloyd Durling, painted in oil onto linen board. Signed, titled and dated 2024 on reverse.

Central to this painting is an intense engagement with oil on linen that explore the interface between painting, drawing and collage. There is a balance between expressive play and tight control and with this comes an expanse of associations that push beyond simple categorisations of abstraction or scale. The information in each painting, given by gesture or mark, is reduced to a fleeting register on the surface, as if each mark has to count.

The idea of topography is of central importance and is explored through continuing walking projects. These serve as opportunities to gather diverse source material through physical and emotional interactions with whichever environment chosen to traverse. It amounts to a kind of urban and rural wandering where the information gathered is reinterpreted or reimagined feeding into a deep connection with landscape, arrangements of ancient monuments, light, shadow and forgotten histories – all of these elements find a way into the work.

This oil on linen board is housed in a complementary walnut stained oak frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

    The Letter Writer

    Sold

    SOLD.

A contemplative and rhythmic mid-century abstract figurative painting captures a quiet, intimate moment of reflection, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1957.

The central figure – suggested through simplified, sculptural forms – rests their head on one hand while writing or drawing on a blank page, immersed in thought. The face and body are deliberately obscured, inviting the viewer to project their own narrative onto the scene.

Executed in a muted yet warm palette of mustard, brick red, and soft peach, the work is layered with earthy tones and bold linear accents. The artist has used broad, expressive brushstrokes and lightly textured brushstrokes, contrasting with smoother, pale passages of light to create rhythm and emotional weight.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary white painted wood frame. The painting has a small bit of paint loss at its top edge, as well as some craquelure present (as shown) but the paint layer is stable overall. The frame has minor scuff marks.

  • The White Boat

    The White Boat

    Sold

    SOLD

A compelling minimalist coastal landscape painting that captures a moment of quiet isolation from a high vantage point, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 2006.

At the heart of the composition, a lone white boat gently floats in a muted blue-grey body of water, its tilted angle adding a sense of drifting movement. The scene is bordered above by a dense expanse of deep greens – evoking rich, overgrown coastal foliage – which dramatically meets the waterline in a jagged edge, suggesting a tree-lined cliff or forested headland.

The painting is executed in a modernist style with thick, textured brushwork. The artist has applied broad, horizontal strokes to the water, allowing tonal shifts of grey, blue, and muted green to emerge. The foliage is rendered in expressive, layered swathes of dark greens, creating a weighty contrast against the  pale expanse on the left – possibly a suggestion of open sand.

Despite its minimal detailing, the work conveys a powerful narrative of solitude.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary white frame. The painting has minor craquelure present at its upper right area, but the paint layer is very stable and it is only noticeable upon close inspection.

A brilliantly executed and richly textured modernist oil composition that distills an architectural scene into a series of angular forms and geometric planes, painted by the established Swedish artist Max Gregor Carlsson (1914-1996), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Malmö Museum, Eskilstuna Art Museum, Ystads Museum, Norrköping City Collection, the Landskrona Konsthall.

The composition appears to depict clustered huts rendered in an abstracted, cubist manner – each structure fragmented into simplified blocks of light and dark. The overlapping rooftops and stark verticals guide the eye across a village that feels both familiar and surreal.

The palette is moody and minimal, dominated by deep charcoal, blue, and cream tones with hints of peach. These shades add an atmospheric quietude to the scene, suggesting dusk.

Thick, directional brushstrokes carved into impasto layers give the painting a tactile depth. Dual Horizons (Set of 2)

    Sold

    SOLD

A striking mid-century pair that captures a bold interplay of form and colour across two abstract compositions, painted in oil by Swedish painter Hans Osswald (1919-1983), whose works have been exhibited at the National Museum in Stockholm, Malmö Museum as well as The Brooklyn Museum.

One panel features a cool-toned palette of slate grey, deep navy, teal, and pale blue, punctuated by a vertical yellow accent and small geometric whites and blacks. A strong horizontal composition grounds the piece, evoking a minimalist seascape or terrain without literal reference. The brushwork is confident yet restrained, layering flat blocks of colour with subtle texture.

In contrast, the other panel warms the viewer with earthy browns, burnt orange, ochre, charcoal, and a flash of cobalt blue. Its broader, blockier forms appear as abstracted architecture or landscape, with rugged edges and expressive brushstrokes suggesting motion and depth. The juxtaposition of these two works reveals Oswald’s mastery in balancing contrast – between cool and warm, geometry and gesture, stillness and energy.

Each oil on board is housed in a very well suited frame with an inner linen lining and a gilt border. Both paintings are in excellent vintage condition, and the frames have very minor scuffs.

  • Verdant Echoes

    Verdant Echoes

    Sold

    SOLD

A striking and emotive mid-century abstract composition painted in oil onto canvas, by Swedish painter Hans Osswald (1919-1983), whose works have been exhibited at the National Museum in Stockholm, Malmö Museum as well as The Brooklyn Museum.

The painting invites the viewer into a dynamic interplay of layered greens, icy blues, and deep emerald hues. Sweeping diagonals and overlapping forms create a sense of movement and quiet tension, evoking natural forms without direct representation. At its core, the painting pulses with organic vitality – its soft jade and moss tones offset by the smoky depth of midnight green and slate.

The brushstrokes vary in texture and direction, with areas of thick impasto contrasting with smoother, almost scraped-back planes. Textural accents and faint gestural arcs emerge through the surface, suggesting a hidden geometry or memory. With a palette both cool and contemplative, Verdant Echoes reflects the era’s fascination with abstraction as emotional landscape.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame. The painting has some areas of craquelure due to the thickness of paint but the paint layer is very stable overall.

    Beyond the Fields

    SOLD

An expressive and dynamic mid-century modernist abstract composition of nature that distills a vast landscape into bold planes of colour and a textured palette, painted in oil onto canvas.

The painting is structured around angular swathes of earth-toned fields – deep green, blues, whites and rust – intersected by a meandering dark line that evokes a path or stream. A central ridge of forested trees anchors the horizon, silhouetted against a brooding sky rendered in diagonal strokes of lavender, mauve, and blue.

Painted with vigorous, impasto brushwork, the surface is alive with energy. The artist’s crosshatched marks lend a sense of movement and seasonality, as though capturing the wind’s passage across the land. Edges are intentionally rough, revealing areas of white and giving the work an almost tactile sense of spontaneity.

This oil on canvas is housed in a very well-suited distressed wood frame with an inner white border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

A fun and playful large 20th century cubist composition, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1975 by Belgian artist Pierre Goossens.

This painting is a vibrant and structured cubist-style still life, featuring a table densely packed with musical instruments and domestic objects, rendered in flattened geometric forms and bold, contrasting colours.

At the centre is a large guitar, overlapping with a mandolin or lute, both abstracted into simplified, stylized shapes. A pair of green glasses or vessels, a red beret, and a bottle or vase are also identifiable among the layered elements. The tablecloth is covered with various patterned fabrics, adding texture and complexity. Behind the scene, an open window reveals a bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds, bringing depth and a suggestion of an exterior world.

The overall palette combines warm earthy tones (browns, reds, and ochres) with cool blues and blacks, creating dynamic visual contrast. The artist uses strong outlines and flat planes to define the forms, typical of the cubist and synthetic cubist approaches influenced by Picasso and Braque.

This painting is lively and rhythmic, celebrating form and colour through a stylised representation of everyday objects in a domestic or café-like setting.

This large oil on canvas is presented in a stepped black wood frame with an inner pale blue slip, which suits it well. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some surface wear and scuffing but is in a good and stable condition.

  • Figures in Flux

    Figures in Flux

    Sold

    SOLD

An emotive and dynamic figurative composition that captures two abstracted figures side by side, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1984.

The forms are rendered with dynamic, gestural lines that suggest movement and companionship, while their elongated silhouettes hint at a dramatic flair, possibly inspired by flamenco or fashion. Set against a vivid yellow background, the scene radiates warmth and energy, contrasting with the dark, bold outlines of the figures.

Executed in an expressive modernist style, the artist has used broad, confident brushstrokes and a semi-abstract approach to form. The palette is dominated by yellow, orange, and black tones, softened with earthy pinks and pale blues. The brushwork is fluid yet textural, lending the surface a raw, spontaneous quality that enhances the emotional immediacy of the scene.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary dark wood frame with an inner gilt window. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

    Sold

    SOLD.

A very unique original artwork by British artist Dave Boyd, constructed from discarded books (repurposed cloth covers, papers, cardboard, binding boards) mounted on a wooden panel in a solid wood float frame.

The surface is covered in faded rose-hued cloth, visibly aged with subtle textures, creases, and discoloration that speak to its previous life as part of a book cover. A horizontal seam running across the midline subtly divides the work, adding a sense of structure and time-worn narrative.

At the centre is a vertically oriented, geometric element: a column of interlocking trapezoid-like shapes made from different tones of book cloth—warm creams, deep burgundies, and soft pinks. These shapes form a slightly curved band, suggesting movement or tension, and are carefully aligned to echo the handmade precision of textile patchwork or marquetry.

    SOLD

A very unique original artwork by British artist Dave Boyd, constructed from discarded books (repurposed cloth covers, papers, cardboard, binding boards) mounted on a wooden panel in a solid wood float frame.

The background is composed of a richly textured, burnt orange surface made from aged book cloth, divided horizontally at its midpoint, enhancing the piece’s sense of structure and symmetry.
