Fragmented Dwellings

A bold and brilliantly executed mid-century modern painting that presents an abstracted interpretation of architectural forms or structures, executed in oil onto paper and framed behind glass.

The composition is dominated by two geometric figures, reminiscent of houses or buildings, rendered in an intersecting grid of warm earthy tone of burnt orange and deep brown  – accented with bold strokes of cobalt blue and black outlines.  The background is divided into muted blocks of black, grey, and off-white, grounding the figures in a minimal yet evocative setting.

The style is distinctly abstract, drawing influences from Cubism, with an emphasis on geometric fragmentation and balance. The brushstrokes are deliberate and textured, with visible layering that adds depth and richness to the composition. The interplay of sharp angles and curved segments within the forms creates a dynamic contrast, inviting the viewer to interpret the spatial relationships and underlying forms.

This oil painted on card is framed behind glass, and is presented within a card mount. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffing.
