These ceramic tile fireplaces are quintessentially Swedish, and date back to the Middle Ages although many were destroyed in the mid 20th century to make way for central heating. Hanging next to the stove are a range of pictures, conveying a homely scene. We also a see a blue coat or towel hanging next to it, alluding to the practical nature of the stove which can dry wet garments.
