A brilliantly executed abstract figurative oil composition painted by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum.

Small yet impactful in its composition, the painting brings our attention to two figures seated by a wall, seemingly in conversation. Abstract in nature, the figures and their surroundings have been reduced down to short brushstrokes and colour.

The expressive dabs and small swirls evoke a sense of movement and dynamism, and the dominant use of brown tones in subtle variations creates a warm and earthy atmosphere, and also helps to create depth and three-dimensionality to the painting.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary wide profile gilt frame that pairs well and illuminates the painting. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
