Two Seated Figures

SOLD.

An outstanding abstract figurative composition dated 1962 and executed in oil by the well-established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum.

The composition is centered around 2 figures that are portrayed in an abstract manner. The figures are depicted in a seated position side by side, with their postures relaxed and comfortable.

The artist has used short and expressive brushstrokes to paint the figures, evoking a sense of movement and dynamism within the static setting. The dominant use of rich brown tones in various intensities creates a warm and earthy atmosphere, imbuing the artwork with a timeliness quality. The subtle variations in the brown hues and injections of white and black in contrasting colour blocks help to create depth and three-dimensionality.

This oil on board is housed in a well-suited silver frame with an inner linen lining. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very light scuffing which does not detract from its overall attractiveness.
