A large and very well executed contemporary harbourside composition, painted in acrylic onto canvas and presented in a very well suited lime-waxed wood tray frame, by British artist Elaine Allender.
This painting depicts a picturesque view of Polruan Quayside, capturing the charm of the coastal village with a soft, serene atmosphere. We see a layering of the harbourside houses with their gables and slate roofs, painted in a palette of blues, neutrals and terracottas, with pops of orange. A stone quay runs horizontally across the lower part of the painting, connecting the village to the water.
The water reflects the buildings and sky above in soft, blurred strokes, creating a mirror-like effect. Several small boats, including black and orange ones, are moored near the quay, adding a touch of activity and maritime character.
The sky features a gentle gradient of light blue and soft peach, adding warmth to the scene.
The painting has a semi-abstract, impressionistic style with visible brushstrokes, especially in the water and sky. This work beautifully captures the tranquility and charm of Polruan, emphasizing its connection to the sea and its quaint, timeless character.
This large acrylic on canvas is housed in a well crafted lime-waxed wood tray frame which gives it a contemporary feel. Both the painting and frame are in excellent condition.
Size: 55 x 80 cm (including frame)
