A very lively and enchanting composition painted in oil and dated 1982, by Swedish artist Uno Vallman (1913-2004) whose works are included in the Swedish National Museum and The Swedish Modern Museum, to name a few. His works are also included in the collections of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and the Tessin Institute in Paris.

The painting depicts a blazing sun setting by a lake, and surrounded by a landscape filled with lush trees, red huts, as well as people engaged in various activities.

Containing elements of fauvism and expressionism, this striking painting emphasises rich colours, decorative pattern, and an illustrative quality.

The artist has used a rich and uplifting palette including shades of orange, red, blue, and yellow. Distinct energetic and intuitive brushstrokes have been dabbed across the canvas, adding a wonderful textural quality  and imbuing the work with a sense of dynamism.

This oil on canvas is housed in a robust wide-profiled gilt frame.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very minor scuffs.

    Size: 46 x 54 cm (including frame)

The sculpture seen in the photos is also available to purchase and details can be viewed here.
