A mid-century painting that captures a serene yet dynamic beach scene, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1967.
The artist has used a loose, expressive style reminiscent of mid-century modern impressionism, using bold and gestural brushstrokes as well as focusing on colour as opposed to realistic details.
The colour palette consists of cool blue shades as well as darker navy blue for the water and sky, juxtaposed with yellows from the figures, creating a vibrant yet harmonious contrast.
The brushwork is fluid and dynamic, with painterly strokes that capture the texture of the waves and the shimmer of sunlight reflecting on the water.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary frame with a hessian lined border. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
