Lunastal is a continuation of a series of mini abstracts responding to the colours of particularly times of the year based on the Celtic calendar.

Lunastal is the second half of summer, celebrated usually on August 1st. For Daws, this is a season of deep rich blues found in the skies and sea, that is why the presence of blue is dominant overlapping the softer pinks and yellows. Lunastal is joyful in its juxtaposition of form and use of bright colours.

This acrylic on board is framed within a white St Ives frame. tray frame, capturing the complexity of the colours within. Both the painting and frame are in excellent condition. The artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity and signature on the reverse.

Frances Daws is a British Artist working in the Southwest of England. Primarily a painter she also works within printmaking. This painting is reminiscent of the British Modern artist Peter Lanyon, who painted landscape both from many points of view, many visual perspectives, but also conceptually from different perspectives. Although it is unclear what this particular piece is inspired by (perhaps it not meant to be representative of anything at all!), it is clear that the artist is focused on the rhythm and meeting of forms. We see a mix of both harder and softer forms, built up in layers of colour, where lines and shapes meet and intersect on planes of colour behind it.
