    Cederberg is known for his exquisite still lifes of pears, which always capture the delightful quirkiness of this lovely fruit. He focuses on their forms, approaching the fruit and its surroundings with a modernist ethos. Both the background and objects within this picture have been painted in flat planes of colour, creating a blocky composition. There is a beautiful balance to the horizontal composition, which Cederberg is known to be adept at achieving.

    Cederberg was a Swedish artist who made his debut on the art world in Helsingborg in 1922.  Later he participated in the  Skåne Art Association Exhibition in 1926 and the  Swedish Public Art Society exhibition in Stockholm in 1941. He is represented in several public collections in Sweden.

    A brilliantly executed mid-century still life painting in tempera, painted in 1953 by the established Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984), whose artworks have been represented in several public and museum collections across Sweden.

    In this excellent composition, two ripe pears and a bunch of grapes in a white bag are laid out on a wooden surface and contrasting against a dark-dotted backdrop.

    Inviting viewers to revel in the simple beauty of everyday objects, the artist masterfully captures the essence of realism through his meticulous brushwork and keen attention to detail.

    The use of rich tempera hues lends depth and warmth to the scene. Every brushstroke is executed with precision, especially the intricate grain of the wood, contributing to the overall illusion of depth and form.

    This tempera on board is housed in a well-suited wood frame with an inner gilt window. The painting has some marks and surface imperfections, and the frame has very minor scuffs. Please note that there is some glare evident in the photos, due to the glossy surface of the painting.

    An energetic and beautifully textured abstract mid-century coastal landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

    Abstract in nature, the painting presents a panoramic view of a coastal landscape executed through the use of long and expressive brushstrokes. These long strokes sweep horizontally across the canvas very powerfully powerfully, leading our eyes from the sea on the left of the painting, to the shore, and followed by cliffs with some greenery on the right.
