    Geometric Collage in Raw Umber

The background is composed of a richly textured, raw umber surface made from aged book cloth, divided horizontally at its midpoint, enhancing the piece’s sense of structure and symmetry. The material bears the worn, mottled patina of time, evoking a tactile warmth and nostalgic depth.

  • Matrix (Very Large)

    Matrix (Very Large)

    Sold

    SOLD

A very large and striking 21st-century abstract geometric painting, executed in oil on canvas.

This mesmerising painting is composed entirely of triangular shapes arranged in a tight, grid-like pattern. The triangles are painted in a restricted but bold palette of black, dark brown, white, and a soft cream, which creates a strong visual rhythm and contrast across the canvas. There is a visual order but the subtle shifts in orientation and colour prevent it from becoming monotonous.

The stark contrast between deep browns, black, and crisp white creates strong visual impact, but the occasional soft cream triangle adds warmth and breaks the binary, giving the eye a place to rest.

From afar the painting looks clean, precise and monotone. But as you move toward it and study its intricacies, you begin to realise the range of colours and the visible brushstrokes, which further enhances the fact that this is indeed a hand painted piece with more subtle details that are not immediately obvious at first glance.

The restrained colour scheme enhances sophistication. It feels modern and timeless, making it versatile in a range of settings from minimalist homes to design-forward spaces.

This large oil on canvas is housed in a very well suited black frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some scuffing present.

A evocative mid-century figurative painting that presents a nude female figure reclining gracefully on a vibrant, patterned armchair, executed in oil onto board.

Her pose – one arm draped behind her head and eyes gently closed – suggests quiet introspection or rest, capturing a moment of serene vulnerability.

Executed with textural qualities, the artist has used thick, expressive brushstrokes that give the figure and background a tactile, almost sculptural presence. The style bridges post-impressionism and early modernist figuration, reminiscent of the School of Paris.

The palette is rich but softly muted: creamy flesh tones are offset by warm earth hues in the hair and chair, punctuated by bursts of red, green, and yellow on the floral upholstery. A cool grey-blue background provides a subtle contrast, enhancing the warmth of the figure’s form.

Overall, this piece speaks to the quiet power of stillness, rendered through a confident yet tender painterly hand.

This oil on board is housed in a very well-suited distressed wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffs.

    Size: 67.5 x 58.5 cm (including frame)

  • Pitcher & Pears

    Pitcher & Pears

    Sold

    SOLD.

A expressive and lively mid-century still life from 1958 that captures a vibrant arrangement of fruit and a pitcher set against a boldly abstracted interior, executed in oil onto board.

A pear, an apple, and sliced citrus rest on a geometric table surface, while a pale blue pitcher anchors the composition with sculptural solidity.

Rendered in confident, textured brushstrokes, the painting channels post-Impressionist and early Modernist sensibilities. The palette is rich and varied, blending warm yellows, earthy browns, and intense reds with cooler tones of turquoise and blues. Each hue is applied with visible, gestural strokes that lend the work a sense of immediacy and rhythm.

The background is an interplay of vertical and diagonal planes, suggestive of drapery or wall panels, contributing to the dynamic spatial ambiguity.

This oil on board is housed in a very well-suited wood frame. The painting has some craquelure present, but the paint layer is very stable overall. The frame has some paint losses, but this is in keeping with its vintage style.

    Size: 60 x 51.5 cm (including frame)

  • Port Construct

    Port Construct

    Sold

    SOLD.

A striking mid-century abstract painting that explores the structural rhythms of a harbour or port cityscape, rendered through a bold interplay of geometric forms and mirrored reflections, and executed in oil onto board.

Angular shapes and intersecting planes suggest industrial architecture – perhaps cranes and bridges – set against a waterfront backdrop. The lower half of the canvas evokes the surface of water, softly reflecting the rigid structures above.

Executed in thick, expressive brushstrokes, the artist has used a restrained yet dynamic palette of cool sea-blues, teal greens, soft greys, and sandy browns, punctuated by touches of deep navy and burnt orange. The paint is applied with a wide brush, producing a ridged texture that adds dimension and movement to the flattened forms.

Reminiscent of the modernist abstraction of the 1950s and 60s, the work captures the tension between nature and industry, fluidity and form – an evocative study in balance and reflection.

This oil on canvas is housed in a very well suited wood frame with a linen border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

    Size: 53 x 69.5 cm (including frame)

  • Pregnant Pears

    Pregnant Pears

    Sold

    SOLD.

A very well executed still life composition by British artist Nancy Crewe, painted in oil on to board and presented beautifully in a bespoke white tray frame.

It features four pears, arranged in a row across a horizontal composition, on a muted green and brown surface. The backdrop is a softly blended cream and ochre gradient, suggesting a calm, abstracted environment, almost dreamlike in its quietness.

The lighting and deep shadows cast beneath the pears give the composition a sense of solidity and grounding, contrasting with the airy, abstracted background. The simplified palette—earthy greens, ochres, and whites—evokes a feeling of calm introspection.

This work stands out for its poetic simplicity and its ability to evoke human qualities through still life.

The oil on board is housed in a very complementary white tray frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

  • Prize Hereford Bull

    Prize Hereford Bull

    Sold

    SOLD

An engaging contemporary animal composition that captures the stoic presence of a black and white Hereford bull, painted in a naïve style in oil onto panel by British artist Matt Rix.

The bull is set against a minimalistic backdrop of golden hills and a pale lavender-grey sky. The animal stands in full profile, its rounded form and serene expression exuding calm strength and quiet vigilance.

The painting’s style is firmly rooted in folk art traditions, with simplified forms, flat areas of colour, and a lack of perspectival depth that give it a timeless, almost storybook quality. The palette is subdued yet effective with colours that create a harmonious contrast, with touches of pink on the hooves and snout lending a touch of warmth.

Brushwork is smooth and deliberate, with clean, confident lines and solid fills, creating an overall sense of clarity and calm.

This oil on board is housed in unique green frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

British artist Matt Rix spent his childhood in South Africa and now lives with his family on a small holding in rural North Wales. His paintings are uncomplicated, modernist representations influenced by primitive and naïve folk art from times past. Many of the subjects Rix paints are inspired by the animals he sees from day to day. Rix uses recycled materials including discarded paints, boards, frames and backing paper. Much of his work is therefore produced using waste materials resulting in sustainable paintings that evoke a time-worn, nostalgic essence.

    Sold

    SOLD

A charming and engaging contemporary animal composition that features a stylised tamworth pig captured in confident profile against a minimalist, tricolour backdrop, painted in a naïve style in oil onto panel by British artist Matt Rix.

The subject – a chocolate-brown pig – stands upright with a subtle sense of pride and whimsy. Its curled tail, erect ears, and single pale blue eye lend it character. The landscape background is rendered in vertical blocks of yellow, muted mauve, and slate that elevates the animal’s presence.

Painted in flat, even layers, the brushstrokes are nearly invisible, emphasising clean lines and bold forms over textural complexity. The restrained palette and graphic execution give the work a timeless, emblematic quality – at once playful and dignified.
