A modernist style interior still life composition that captures a quiet moment, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1959.

The painting features a table with a yellow chair in the foreground, set against a background of geometric planes in muted tones. On the table, a green bottle with a red seal, a glass, and a small red bowl are arranged across a pink tablecloth. A dark green jacket is draped casually over another chair, adding an element of human presence without directly depicting a figure.

The painting embraces a modernist approach. The perspective is slightly flattened, and the shapes of objects are reduced to their essential forms.  The artist has utilised strong but subtle structural lines to define space.

The colour palette features predominantly muted shades of blues, greys, and pinks, which imbue the work with a calm and slightly melancholic atmosphere.

This oil on canvas is housed in complementary gilt and white ridged frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffs but this is in keeping with its vintage style.
