A simple yet sophisticated mid-century modernist style painting, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The composition focuses on a female figure set against an abstracted and minimalist architectural background. The buildings are rendered with clean, almost block-like forms which are devoid of intricate details and that evoke a Mediterranean aesthetic. The woman’s dark dress, adorned with small dots, contrasts with the otherwise monochromatic palette, adding a subtle focus on her presence.

The brushstrokes are soft and gentle, contributing to the smoothness of the surface. The painting predominantly uses muted tones of grey and white, accentuating the calm and contemplative mood. The woman’s dress introduces a slightly warmer tone, and her yellow handbag serves as the only bright accent, drawing the viewer’s attention and breaking the monochromatic harmony.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary silver frame with an inner linen border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some scuffs at its edges as shown.
