A lively and expressive figurative landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas by Swedish artist Uno Vallman (1913-2004), whose works are included in the Swedish National Museum and The Swedish Modern Museum, to name a few. His works are also included in the collections of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and the Tessin Institute in Paris.

The painting presents a long bridge ascending through a lush hilly landscape setting. A group of figures in white clothing and red hats and depicted crossing the bridge and admiring the scenic view before them.

Containing elements of fauvism and expressionism, this striking painting emphasises rich colours and decorative pattern.

The artist has used a vibrant and saturated palette including shades of green, red and blue. Distinct energetic and intuitive brushstrokes also fill the canvas, imbuing the work with a sense of dynamism.

The artist has also used black outlines that provide a sketch-like quality that emphasises the silhouettes of the figures and landscape.

This oil on canvas is is housed in a robust wide-profiled gilt frame.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very minor scuffs.

An expressive mid-century landscape composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

The painting encapsulates a scene of quiet work, where a male figure is depicted holding a long shovel within a landscape area of a park.

He stands firm in the foreground, positioned as though he had plunged the long shovel into the earth. His attire in the shade of dark blue complements the earthy tones around him. The background unfolds with a green landscape with tall trees, dominated by muted greens and browns and blues, creating a calm yet naturalistic setting.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner cream border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some marks as seen in the close ups.
